- This book is an easy to digest primer for those who want to learn more about renewable energy. The book focuses on climate change as a business and economic challenge which can be solved with business and economic tools. It paints a pragmatic but optimistic view of the energy revolution. Unlike many industry books, this book doesn’t read like a textbook but rather carries the reader along throughout.
- This book provides a thorough yet readable explanation of the renewable energy industry and the economic forces driving energy transition. The author discusses the development of traditional energy sources throughout human history (wood, coal, oil, gas) and how renewables (particularly solar and wind) have advanced to be competitively priced with fossil fuels.
- I am by no means an energy sector expert, but this book provides a very nice overview of how the renewable energy sector has evolved over the years and where it is today. The author, Bruce Usher, writes in a very clear and concise fashion and makes some relatively difficult concepts easy to understand. The author remains neutral in his views but offers some interesting insight as to the potential future of the energy (and transportation) sector.

Really clear explanations of wind and solar power and the electric grid and the financing of all this. A great primer for those trying to understanding the energy transition that is underway

- Mr. Usher pulls together data and events across time, countries and industries and provides us with insights and a comprehensive view into how our sources of energy, that drives our economy and every day living (our existence), has evolved overtime and the on going transition to renewables.
He shares with us how to level the playing field when measuring different sources of energy and where the tipping point has happened in the past and how we are close to that happening with renewable sources. He also touches on winners and losers during this transition and some of the great inovations now being adopted, like V2G.
This book is a great primer and I can see it being used in government policy discussions and consumer education.
I hope Mr. Usher continues this line of thinking and delivers more insights in the near future.
Grant Lawrence - Great introduction to the renewable energy space. Went in knowing nothing more than the average individual, and Usher does a great job providing foundational knowledge in an easily-digestible way. If you're new to the space, this is the perfect place to start.
